Finally, knowing your budget and evaluating your spending and savings patterns is also a big part of your financial checkup. In the coming weeks, Garden Savings will be launching a new tool on our web site called “Debt in Focus” that can help you with this process. This system will require some general data from you (income, bills, etc.) and then will provide you a detailed evaluation of your financial picture. It is a free tool that will be available for your use and will help you round out your overall financial checkup.
At Garden Savings, it is important to us that all of our members make safe, sound and educated financial decisions. We want you to improve your financial position in order to achieve your financial dreams. I encourage each of you to perform a “financial checkup” in the near future and insure that you are in great financial health!
Sincerely,
Louis J. Vetere

News & Updates (back to top)
Garden Savings Federal Credit Union is pleased to announce the promotion of Nick Biason to Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer. Nick has been a part of the credit union industry for nearly three decades including the past 28 years at Garden Savings Federal Credit Union and possesses a wealth of credit union experience and financial expertise.

Garden Savings is also pleased to announce the promotion of Marianne Nellessen to Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) Processor. Marianne is going in to her twelfth year with Garden Savings where she has served as a call center representative previously and will maintain those responsibilities as well. Congratulations go out to both Nick and Marianne!
Garden Savings continues to teach financial responsibility to Newark youth. This past January and March, Garden Savings conducted financial literacy training to the students and staff of AmeriCorps that work in conjunction with the Rutgers Youth Education and Employment Success Center. The credit union staff who taught the class focused on managing a checking account, creating an effective personal budget, and realizing the importance of maintaining responsible credit and improving one’s credit score. “It’s always a pleasure to teach young people about the importance of money and finance,” said Michael Powers, Assistant Vice President of Marketing for Garden Savings. “You really see eyes light up when people realize how much money it could cost them over the years if they don’t maintain a good credit score and manage their finances accordingly. It’s a great feeling to know that we’re helping explain a process that can help people help themselves for years to come.”
As Garden Savings continues to expand our presence, keep your eyes peeled for our new television commercial on Cablevision in Morris County and Newark as well as our radio spots on WDHA and WMTR radio. In addition, you’ll be able to find advertisements for our Diamond Checking account on over 150 buses in the Newark area and poster boards in Newark Penn Station during April and May! We continue to strive to share the news of our financially solid institution with more and more individuals.
Member Survey Results Show Garden Savings Members to be Very Satisfied! (back to top)
This past February and March, Garden Savings Federal Credit Union conducted an on-line member survey to monitor our overall satisfaction levels amongst our membership. We were very pleased with the results which showed a membership that is happy with our service levels and product offerings. Of course not every piece of feedback was entirely positive but those comments have great value as well. In fact, negative comments can help us to identify areas of improvement and implement changes that will help us to become an even better financial institution going forward.
Over 350 members took part in the survey with nearly half of them taking the time to write in comments in our open-ended section. These comments were especially helpful and well appreciated. We will continue to run surveys from time to time on our web site and on our Facebook page and we encourage you to partake in as many as possible in order to continually help us to serve you better!
Below are a few examples of the positive feedback we received:
“Very helpful and professional staff”
“Very helpful and friendly staff. They are always willing and able to answer questions and help.”
“Nancy at the Murray Hill location is extremely helpful and friendly.”
“I’ve banked with you for nearly 20 years and it’s been a pleasure.”
“Every employee I have dealt with has been courteous, professional and friendly. Great company to deal with!”
“I live in Succasunna and bank with GSFCU Parsippany. I am thrilled to be a member, and don’t find the distance even relevant! I use banking on line 99% of the time for information; I send deposits by mail, and usually don’t visit my branch more than twice a month; mostly just when I happen to be n the area. The Tellers are competent and business-like, and Marilyn is simply outstanding in her representation and role for the Branch! I could not be more pleased with my banking facility and the staff.”
“My lender of choice! Great job!”
